♦27June09-05July09 Mexican Riviera Cruise

So I just got back from vacation yesterday on a Royal Caribbean cruise atop the Mariner of the Seas. Albeit felt a tad inferior to the Carnival cruise line 'cause of it's popularity amongst people I know, as my first cruise ever, my trip was great.

Day 1
It started with my family and I driving down to LA a day earlier than when the ship would actually depart. We left around 10 and stayed at a crappy hotel. Oh well, it was only one night and right across from our dock. The day just ended with us going to dinner w/ some local cousins. Had to drive back to the hotel 'cause parents drank -_-

Day 2

Boarding day.

It was too big to take in one shot hah.

The waiting area.

First thing I noticed as I waited to board: no asians; all white people. The few asians who were actually there were either old or little kids w/ walkie-talkies. When I finally boarded, it really felt like a floating hotel. Couldn't tell we were on water at all.

Our room.

As we left LA.

People below us >_>

Reminded me of Wall-E.

We went to watch the welcoming show, which featured a juggler and a comedian. The juggler was a douche bag 'cause he kept clowning on this bald guy. He was surprisingly good nonetheless. The comedian sucked.. mainly 'cause I was too young and not white enough to get his jokes. Oh and they had a live band which was great.

Cool curtain thing.

Our cruise director, Abe.

Meeting the kid.

Juggling the kid.

Boo him.

The awesome band.

First day of dinner was good. We were assigned a tabled, a waiter, and an assistant waiter. They served us for the whole week. Hella formal and sh*t. All the food was already paid for in the ticket price, so everything was "free". We ordered what ever the hell we wanted, like three appetizers, two entrees, and four desserts without feeling guilty >)

Oh I also checked out the supposed "18-20 only club." It was pretty much 40+ >_>;;

Day 3

Not much happened today. Another day at sea. Just watched two shows and played at the casino for the first time. First one was an ice skating show. It was actually pretty cool. Those quick change people were there too.

KKK-much? The weird thing was, he was spinning a black girl.

The second one was a singing and dancing show. They were alright. Only recognized some of the songs.

Went to the casino for the first time today. Played single deck blackjack and lost A WHOLE BILL wtf. There goes my grad money. Kinda. w/e it was my first time and I still had hecka fun anyways.

Day 4
Our morning balcony view of Cabo San Lucas.

So we arrived at Cabo in the morning. We took a tender to land b/c they didn't have docks big enough for the cruise there. It was kinda scary at first. Everything was under construction so there was dust and crap everywhere and mexicans running around. Took a taxi boat to a nice beach. It was scorching hot but surprisingly, the water was still cold-ish. Me and my brother dug a hole (:

On the tender.

"Haven't I seen you in front of Home Depot?"
"Que?"
-runs away-

Our hole.

Boat guy's dog.

Going back.

Balcony view of us leaving.

Came back and watched a show w/ an impressionist. He was okay I guess if you got his jokes. He did everything from Elvis, to Elton John, to Kermit the Frog. Also went to the tables again to see if my luck changed for more single deck blackjack. Won $35 :D Didn't really win back my money, but it's better than losing, yeah?

Impressionist guy.

This was the first day that I've felt homesick. It was pretty minor though. I wished so many people could have been there w/ me..

Day 5
Morning view.

Today we docked at Mazatlan at 8 and left around 10. Waking up is sucha friggin pain. Felt major homesick again. First impression of the place: whata ghetto. Weather looked crappy so I thought I wouldn't have a good time. Overall it turned out to be better than Cabo. Although the weather wasn't too hot, the water was really warm. It was hella shallow too so you could go farr from the shore without swimming. You could stand where waves formed and let them smack you in the face. That was probably the best part. We also ran into a viet family from Milpitas (what are the freaking chances, right?). They had two daughters, the oldest goes to Russell.

Leaving Mazatlan.

It looks like a whale!

Tug tug tug.

Oh I started taking pictures of my dinner today. Should have started from the beginning, but eh. Better late than never.

Dessert.

Sigh.. bad day at the casino today. Lost my $70 quick. That made me depressed for the rest of the night so I went around, looking for something to do. Found a book in the library and started reading. Yes, reading. Blinded by Stephen White.

Day 6
Waking up was easier today, 'cause I slept better b/c of the book. Today: Puerto Vallarta.

Pretty draining day. We booked a zip lining tour and had to wait an hour and a half for it to start 'cause all the other times were booked. Once it started, it took another hour of driving to get there =\

Everything seemed worth it though once we actually started. Zip lining was hella fun. It wasn't the pansy w/ handles and sh*t. All rope. We went for two hours and repelled twice. Got back to the ship and watched a crappy magic show.. I was expecting it to be good. The guys made awkward, pointless motions with anticlimactic tricks. The finale was good though.

Dinnerr.

Dessert.

I won today. Even though it was only $20 >_> Had a nice table. Also won a shirt from our cruise director!

day 7
Mmmm felt good to sleep in. Slept most of the day, so I didn't do much. Got frozen yogurt form the machine by the pool for the first time. Dinner was again, delicious.

Watched a singing & dancing show w/ the same people from before, just different performances. It was alright.

She was so pointing at me.

Good day at the tables today. Lasted pretty long and I won $50. Really doubt I'll break even. God I was so stupid my first day..

Day 8

Slept innn. There was a variety show featuring the juggler guy again and the singers again. The juggler was heckaa good, although he made some big mess ups. He didn't clown on anybody today. The singer's were okay.. They only had a brief performance.

Senior cruise director Abe.

El capitano.

WTF.

Circus freak ahah.

Cena.

Dessert.

Gobble gobble.

Aw no more ):

So that's it. The next day, we went home. My dad drove the first half and I took the second. Over all,a great trip. Good food, new experiences, new memories. Only thing that would have made it better is if I went w/ someone around my age. Other than that, no regrets.

*After all that, I'm wayy to lazy to grammer check/proof read. Don't mind the mistakes. I know there are tons of tense errors..
