A huge chapter of my life has just closed. It hasn't totally hit me yet, but my career as a high school track athlete is over. Three years of work and practice has just come to a complete stop. No more chill bus rides with the team. No more rushing to invites, trying to figure out where the hell the school is. No more block starts. No more partner stretches. No more hurdling. Ever again.
I'm happy with my last meet at qualifier but I'd be lying if I said I was completely satisfied with my season. I came in this year expecting to be a 300IH runner and improve on my 43.9 last year at Serra. Turns out that my pre-season lifting and lack of conditioning led be to be more of a 110HH runner. I wish I could have realized this earlier so that I could have raced the 110 at invites as opposed to the dreaded 300.
Eh it's whatever. In the 110HH I got 7th place with 16.85, which is a PR by .05 from our home meet against Altos. I did horrible in the 300IH with 44.88. The guy next to me fell into my lane at around the end of the curve, so I had to veer out of the way. It slowed me down a lot, but I didn't care much for this race so it's okay.
My season's over, but congrats and good luck to those who are moving on.
